Put a shield on your data with tips from MACC’s Tech Team at MBTC 2019

by MACC’s Technical Support Team

At MBTC 2019, the Technical Support Team will be flying in to teach about proper cyber security procedures and some of the threats that come with lack of preparation. We’ll be knocking out topics such as the different types of attacks, how to protect your machine, proper password use, and other topics to help you put a shield of security between you and hostile attacks.

Cyber security helps keep important information safe on laptops, cell phones, tablets and other internet connected devices. Cyber-attacks can happen anywhere, and at any time, when a device is connected to the internet. There are many simple steps you can take to protect your data and keep it out of the wrong hands.

I don’t want to take away from the excitement of MBTC, but here is a sneak peek. One of the simplest things you can do to increase security is proper password management. How many people let their browser save their passwords? It is an easy and helpful tool, but not always one of the safest. When you let your browser save your password, that information can become compromised if your workstation comes under attack. Many times, we have so many passwords to remember that we often use the same password for multiple accounts. This is a dangerous practice. Using the same email and password for many different accounts makes hacking your information very easy.

So, join us at MBTC to learn the rest of the secrets of becoming a MACC cyber security super hero!

As a reminder, your MACC Technical Support Team is available at 402-533-5300 or via email at macctechs@maccnet.com.
