Karen Camenzind
May’s featured employee is Karen Camenzind. She works in MACC’s accounting department preparing financial statements, filing sales tax returns, invoicing our customers, and other miscellaneous accounting duties.
Q. When did you start at MACC?
A. May 1, 1987 – I was 7 years old.
Q. What’s your favorite part of your job?
A. The free coffee and vacation time? Actually, it’s the challenge of meeting deadlines, reconciling accounts, and providing information to help other people do their jobs.
Q. Can you please tell us about your family?
A. I’m married to Bruce, and we have three boys, Cody, Andrew, and Bryan, plus a dog, Bandit. Bandit is the only one that likes me, probably because I’m the one that feeds him.
Q. What do you do for fun in your free time?
A. Absolutely nothing!!!! Actually, I do enjoy drinking adult beverages with friends either at a local social club or on someone’s patio or breeze way – we always have a good time and laugh until our faces hurt. I like spending time with my extended family, and I’ve been known to spend an entire day reading. I like to bake – don’t confuse that with cooking, as I despise cooking.
Q. If you could travel anywhere to spend a week on vacation, where would it be?
A. Anywhere that doesn’t require being trapped in a minivan with three teen/pre-teen boys and a husband who thinks it’s fun to hijack your vacation plans and drive 3,000 miles in five days. Seriously, we haven’t been on a vacation since. I break out in hives if everyone climbs into the van at the same time, even if we are only going across town. And it’s Blair so that’s like a five minute drive.
Q. What’s your favorite quote?
A. I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a very bad mood for 40 years. – Ouiser
Q. The one person I’ve always wanted to meet?
A. My paternal grandfather. He passed away before my parents were married, and I feel as if I’ve missed out on a lot of family history by not knowing him.
Q. If you could add any food to the MACC vending machines, what would it be?
A. Mint Oreo Blizzards, or hot fudge sundaes, or Dilly Bars, or Buster Bars, or strawberry shakes, unless it’s from Zesto’s, then it should be a raspberry shake. Pretty much ice cream. I think they need to add ice cream to the vending machines.
