Brenden Axtell
July’s featured employee is Technical Support Specialist Brenden Axtell. In his role, Brenden assists our clients with technical issues in MACC’s software and provides support to hardware and other equipment in their office. If you’ve called MACC’s Technical Support line for help with an uncooperative computer, there is a good chance you have visited with Brenden.
Q. When did you start at MACC?
A. I started at MACC during June of 2018 and now have been here for a full year!
Q. What’s your favorite part of your job?
A. It’s getting to talk to people from all over the United States, and our customers often engage in conversation while we are assisting them. It makes the experience much easier on them and us!
Q. Can you please tell us about your family?
A. My family consists of my mom, dad, brother, and me. There are four years between me and my brother. They live in Hawaii where I grew up. Many people think it’s crazy I grew up there, and yet here I am, living in the Midwest. While Hawaii is beautiful and a cool place to visit, living on an island just wasn’t for me.
Q. What do you do for fun in your free time?
A. In my free time, there are many different things I do. Storm chasing, photography, automotive racing, and camping are a few of the things I love to do. Chasing storms is quite a rush, and I mostly do it to get cool pictures. I have been doing photography since I was a kid. I got into it because my father does it as well. My dad also used to race cars which I love doing too.
Q. If you could travel anywhere to spend a week on vacation, where would it be?
A. If there was anywhere I’d love to pack my bags and head to right now it would be Europe…more specifically Germany. It is a beautiful country with a large heritage for auto racing. Driving on the German Autobahn at high speeds would be quite the adrenaline rush for me.
Q. What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
A. “Don’t settle for a job you aren’t passionate about.” I’ve always loved technology, and I learn something new every day. It is a constantly changing industry and there is room for growth and more knowledge.
Q. What’s your favorite quote?
A. “Ohana is family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” – Lilo from Lilo & Stitch
Q. The one person I’ve always wanted to meet?
A. Bill Gates would be a pretty cool person to meet. He is a self-made success story, who came from not much, but made something big out of himself.
Q. If you could add any food to the MACC vending machines, what would it be?
A. Panda Express Orange Chicken!
