Technical Information

Keep technology in mind as you budget for fiscal year 2023

by MACC’s Technical Support Team

As the calendar flips to September, many companies are setting budgets for the upcoming fiscal year. If you’re working on your budget for 2023, don’t forget to include your company’s technology needs. There are both hardware and technology services to consider.

Hardware
Many of MACC’s clients are expanding their networks and this often means new employees to help make expansion plans a reality. If your company is planning to add employees, be sure to consider the computer hardware, such as desktop computers, laptop computers, and mobile devices they will need to do their job.

SQL Server 2012 End-of-Life
Additionally, if your company is still using SQL Server 2012, Microsoft ended extended support for this version of SQL Server on July 12, 2022. With Microsoft no longer supporting this version, we will also be removing support in future releases of our products. We are committed to continue support for SQL Server 2012 through the end of the year. However, beginning with the 23.1 release, Customer Master will no longer be compatible with SQL Server 2012. To continue to receive updates to MACC’s products in 2023, you must upgrade your SQL Server to a Microsoft supported version.

Technology services
Having a business interruption plan (BIP) in place is crucial to ensure your company is ready for the uncertainties of today’s technology and business environments. A great first step in a BIP is enrolling in MACC’s Application Recovery Service (MARS). The service backs up your company’s Customer Master and Accounting Master databases to MACC’s servers automatically each night. In the event the unthinkable happens, MACC will deliver access to the files to ensure your company can continue to operate and serve your community. Follow this link for more information on MARS.

Another potential BIP component is MACC’s BackUp Solution (MBUS). With this service, all of the documents and data on your company’s Windows server can be regularly (and automatically) backed-up and stored in a secure location. MBUS takes the work and worry out of backing-up your company’s crucial documents.
